The Treehouse Project
The Treehouse Project happened in Summer 2022 in conjunction with the Little Stars PLAYhouse. The Little Stars PLAYhouse at 681 Selkirk Ave. is a child-centred educational centre that offers families in the North End a safe and welcoming place to play. They offer a wide range of activity centres, field trips, play areas, toys, music, books, a child friendly kitchen, resources and programming to children and caregivers.
GAP designed four timbres to be used as the main structure of the Treehouse. Designs were based off of plants and animals from four eco-regions in Manitoba. During programming at Little Stars, participants created their own nature related bubbles to include on the stilts.
The Treehouse is a central gathering place for families and communities at Little Stars. The tactile and sensory flora and fauna facilitate storytelling and teachings while encouraging children to explore the world around them.
